At what age do we stop?
I found myself thinking about the correct answer or if there even is one. You might be confused about what I am talking about, so let me tell you this first.
I am a mother to 3 beautiful children. And 2 of my children are diagnosed on the autism spectrum.
They find joy in events that, in their mind, have no age limit. And honestly, maybe we adults should start thinking that way about events.
No age limit is needed. If it brings you joy, then participate.
We are coming up on Easter. Holidays are hard on our entire family, mostly because my sons struggle with being out of routine and the unexpected that happens during most holidays.
Fun fact: Avery, my oldest son, loves Easter almost as much as Christmas.
And in our family, we spend Easter decorating eggs, eating treats, and having a gigantic Easter egg hunt.
I am going to be honest with you. Someone asked me what we were doing with our oldest son Avery during the Easter egg hunt we will be having. They didn't think it was appropriate at age 11 for Avery to be able to participate.
Truth be told, developmentally, Avery is around five years old & we focus our attention on adding joy to his days, whatever that may look like.
Is 11 years too old to participate in an Easter egg hunt? I don't think it is. But others see it differently.
As I sit here thinking about what kind of Easter we will have this year as a family, I remember how big of a smile Avery always has on his face every year he participates in the Easter egg hunt. Just like that, I realize there is no age limit on joy. So Avery will continue to participate until it no longer brings him joy.
There is no age limit on joy.

I am a lover of coffee & I enjoy spreading kindness to as many people as I cross paths with. I dabble in blogging but my calling in life is advocating for those who have no voice & need their story to be told.
