Last Minute Summer Daytrips

We spend so much time anticipating summer and dreaming about all the things we want to do once the weather is nice and warm that when the summer is finally upon us, it just flies by in a heartbeat.

With August approaching and Back to School thoughts creeping up on you, why not take the time and go on one more summer adventure that will really make this season memorable to you and your little ones? But don't worry, a great trip doesn't require getting on a plane or lengthy planning, great experiences can be made super easily, spontaneously and close to home. The greatest adventures are often those that we didn't plan long in advance. So get some inspiration, grab your family and live it up!

Build your own kingdom

If you don't want to go on a full fledged camping trip, but still want the same magic of cuddling up in a tent, just grab a bunch of blankets and set up your own fortress of coziness in your backyard. Add some fairy lights for atmosphere and get some snacks from the kitchen and you're good to go. You can curl up with your favorite summer read and feel like you're far away even though you didn't even leave your own garden!

Tropical Getaway

The exotic beach vacation didn't work out this year? No worries, this doesn't mean you have to give up on all of your tropical summer dreams. There are many great water parks all around the country that offer beaches, slides and that true summer feeling. Your kids will have the time of their lives trying out all the different rides and to be quite honest, they are super fun for adults as well. A day in the water park makes for the perfect family day trip that you are sure to remember.

Picnic Time

A picnic is the classic summer activity that just never gets old. Get some blankets, your favorite foods, drinks and settle down in your local park. Bonus points and guaranteed extra fun if your kids and you prepare your picnic snacks together and get creative in the kitchen!

Treasure Hunt

If you want to go all out and create the ultimate summer adventure for your kids, you can create your own treasure hunt for your children to complete. The opportunities are endless, so let your imagination run wild and make up a storyline of your brave little adventurers having to search for a long lost treasure chest in the deepest Amazonian jungle or the king of a medieval kingdom requesting his fearless knights' help in recovering his stolen gold resources. You can leave arrows and clues with quests to complete around your neighborhood that will lead them to a treasure chest filled with delicious summer treats. It takes a little bit of preparation but in the end it will all be worth it when you see the excitement it sparks in your kiddos.
